Stadio Olimpico, which translates to Olympic Stadium in English, is a multi-purpose sports venue situated in Rome, Italy. It holds the distinction of being the largest sports facility in the city and the second-largest in Italy, surpassed only by Milan's Meazza Stadium. With a seating capacity exceeding 70,600 spectators, the stadium has a storied history and is colloquially known as all'Olimpico (The Olympic). Since its opening, Stadio Olimpico has been the home venue for the city's two principal professional football clubs, S.S. Lazio and A.S. Roma

Constructed in the northwestern sector of Rome within the architectural complex known as Foro Italico, the stadium is part of an ensemble built over time. The initial construction work was undertaken by Enrico Del Debbio starting in 1928 and later expanded by Luigi Moretti in 1937. The stadium, originally named Stadio dei Centomila (Stadium of the 100,000) due to its past capacity of hosting up to one hundred thousand people, is now owned by Sport e Salute, a government agency for sports venue management. The Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) operates the stadium.

The stadium acquired the name Olimpico when Rome was awarded the organisation of the 17th Summer Olympics, which took place in 1960. Before 1990, much of the venue lacked roofing, with the exception of the Monte Mario Grandstand. In preparation for the 1990 World Cup, the Olimpico underwent significant renovations, including the addition of a roof, marking a transformation in its structure.
