Stade de la Mosson, Montpellier, France Montpellier plays their home games at the Stade de la Mosson in Montpellier, a stadium with a current maximum capacity of 32,900, originally opened in 1972. Among the significant refurbishments, one notable upgrade occurred when the stadium was chosen as a venue for the 1998 World Cup, resulting in an expansion to a capacity of 35,000 and the construction of its distinctive 3-tier stand.
During the World Cup, Stade de la Mosson hosted five group matches and a round-of-16 match between Germany and Mexico. The stadium underwent another update in 2000 but was unsuccessful in securing a spot as a venue for the Euro 2016 championships. Located in the far western side of the city, approximately 6 km from the city centre and a short distance from the main train station, the venue is easily accessible. If travelling by car, take the A9 motorway and Exit 31 Montpellier Ouest, then follow Crois d'Argent and Mosson until you reach the stadium.
